Vaporizer FAQs

Looking for something specific?

A vaporizer is a cannabis/dry herb consumption device which heats dried cannabis or oil. Vaporizers may come in several shapes and sizes, but work the same way. There are two heating concepts, conductive and convective heating, which converts the plant into a vapor substance. From the heating process, cannabinoids are extracted from the plant which results in the vapor. From studies, the combustion temperature of cannabis is at 392 degrees fahrenheit.

Vaporizers can be used with dried cannabis or oils. They serve as an alternative to more traditional methods such as joints, blunts, water bongs, etc. While they all share the same purpose, vaporizers have distinct benefits between them including discreet consumption, quicker heating process, and better user experience for new users. Vaporizers come in different styles, to fit exactly what you may be looking for.

Vaporizers heat cannabis by way of two types of heating mechanisms. The two heating mechanisms are Conductive and Convective heating. Conductive heating involves direct contact between the herb/oil with the heated source, which tends to be metal. In Convective heating, the heating source does not come in direct contact with the herb. Instead, heated air passed through the herb/oil, preventing the substance from being overburned.

There are several ways to clean your vaporizer that you should be mindful of. The easiest way to clean your dry herb vaporizer would be with isopropyl alcohol. By soaking the contents of your vaporizer in the alcohol, removing impurities and build up will become much easier. You can also use a non-toxic method of cleaning your vaporizer with white vinegar. It’s always a good idea to refer to your owners manual before disassembling your vaporizer.

There is no exact answer for this question. Vaporizers are generally safe when used properly, but you must still take proper precaution with your consumption. The model of vaporizer that you choose to get will alter your overall safety. While research may show different effects of vaporizers, you must use your discretion with what you choose to do. Some potentially harmful aspects that you must keep in mind include heavy metals, carcinogenic compounds, added flavoring, and ingredients from the actual product.

Generally, smoking will have some impact on your lungs. When substances that are foreign to your lungs are introduced, it will work a bit harder to filter it out. Chemicals from your cannabis products may pose as harmful for your lungs, but this requires additional research. These substances may include Diacetyl, Formaldehyde, and Acrolein. As always, please consult your healthcare provider before consuming cannabis products.

While experiencing the effects of the different temperatures will best show you what works for you, a suitable temperature used to extract psychoactive compounds is 365 °F. Many vaporizers feature temperature modes, which better helps you find the best setting for your consumption. Keep in mind, different products will consist of different compounds. While results may certainly vary, exploration is key.

Vaporizers are best for people who are new to cannabis consumption. Other ways of consuming cannabis/dry herb may be less favorable, but it is necessary to explore other options in a safe manner. You may find that the benefits will work in your favor, including quicker effects, cost-effectiveness, and it being a discreet alternative from traditional consumption.

The oils for vaporizers require a very extensive process that we recommend leaving to the professionals! Making your own oil for your vaporizer can be very time costly and potentially dangerous. We recommend getting oils that are safe for consumption, so that you can focus more on the benefits rather than the hard work. While vaporizers and Juuling are very similar, the product compounds make the big difference! Vaporizers may or may not include nicotine-included products, while a Juul will more than likely feature nicotine. A JUUL is essentially an e-cigarette that is vastly different from a standard vaporizer. Cannabis/dry herb products are closely associated with vaporizers, and will vary from your standard JUUL. Please consult with your healthcare provider before consuming any tobacco/cannabis products.

Despite what local/state government may say, your vaporizer possession is more of a federally regulated product. Understanding the law on all levels will give you a better picture as to what you are allowed to do, and what you’re not allowed to do, while traveling. If you have any questions about what you’re allowed to do before your travel, we recommend getting in contact with an airline representative prior to your travel date.

Vaporizers are quite different from conventional ways of smoking, due to the byproduct it lets out into the air. While standard smoking lets out smoke, vaporizers let out vapor. However, if vapor is blown directly into a smoke alarm it has a chance of setting it off. Alarms tend to be sensitive to airborne particles, which vapor can still carry.

While vaporizing does leave a smell, it is not as pronounced as the powerful aroma from actually smoking your herb. Keeping your vaporizer clean will prevent unnecessary build up, and will help minimize odors a bit more. For a more odorless experience, we recommend for you to try out edibles.

Having a vaporizer is not illegal. However, the substance that you consume with the vaporizer may be in question. Depending on the type of dry herb/oil that you are using, it may be illegal to possess. The vaporizer itself is a tool that itself is perfectly fine to have. Familiarize yourself with your local laws to remain safe and informed.

Vaporizers and water pipes are two different smoke tools. A vaporizer uses internal heating methods which produce a vapor, while a water pipe requires a flame and water to produce smoke from the herb. At the end of the day, it all comes down to your personal preference. There are pros and cons of each method that should be considered before consumption.

Vaporizers are generally quiet and discreet. You may hear the vaporizer’s internal parts working to heat up your dry herb/oil, but this is perfectly normal. Vaporizers come in different sizes, which will change the noise that it produces. Be sure to research the different vaporizers that are offered, to choose the right one for your consumption needs.

If you are looking to produce more smoke from your vaporizer pulls, a few ways include using a high power vaporizer, change your breathing during inhalation, increase your wattage, and/or select a different mode on your vaporizer.

We do not recommend leaving your vaporizer in your car, as an extremely hot or cold car can dramatically impact your vaporizer’s functions. The temperature inside of your car can also alter your dry herb/oil quality. We recommend referring to the user manual of your vaporizer for safe storage methods.
